Home Business Or Home Business Franchise?

If you’re reading over this particular article, you’re probably one of the millions of people ready to tell your nine to five job goodbye, and start making money the best way, at home. You might, though, be frustrated by the tens of thousands of “home business” or “work at home” opportunities out there! It’s really frustrating because finding out which ones work and which ones are scams is next to impossible anymore. Whenever you run a search like, “this business scam,” all you get is a whole lot of people promoting their opportunity by writing about how bad other home businesses are and how great this certain one is.

Of course it is, they make money if you buy into it! Finding an honest review is like finding a needle in a hay stack. But, I don’t want to talk about home business and work at home opportunities. I want to discuss a concept that’s relatively new, and a much more successful opportunity. It’s called an online home business franchise. Well, what is that, you might be asking! First let’s take a look at one of the biggest, if not the biggest franchise in the world.

In 1954 a guy named Ray Albert Kroc opened a small scaled (at the time) franchise company. It later grew to be the most successful fast food operation in the world. As you’ve probably already guessed, he was the founder and owner of the McDonald’s corporation franchise. (Ray Kroc passed away in 1984) In 1961, and after being frustrated with the McDonald brothers for not wanting to expand, Ray Kroc purchased the McDonald’s corporation. Implementing the concept of an assembly line, he created a new kind of fast food. He also revolutionized the art of franchising, setting a strict set of guidelines on how fast food was made. Now, even today, one can, for a fee, invest in the McDonald’s franchise and be a franchise operator. We see the results of this all over. You can’t find too many towns and cities with at least one McDonald’s somewhere.

A Small Business Franchise Opportunity Is Within Your Reach – But Only If You’re Careful

Identifying a solid opportunity from the thousands of available franchises can be a daunting task-and the stakes are very high because you could lose your life savings if you make the wrong decision. There are three basic ways for an entrepreneur to determine optimal franchise performers: find a consultant; do it yourself using self-help books and other resources; or purchase a franchise analysis program that provides an analytic roadmap for an entrepreneur to use in doing it herself.

Using a Consultant
There are a professionals in the marketplace who have gained the knowledge and expertise needed to determine the best small business franchise opportunity for an entrepreneur. These professionals usually have expertise in specific products, services, or niches and can help you narrow your search down to a manageable number of choices. You can utilize the services of many of these consultants for free because they are paid a “finder’s fee” by the franchisor after you make the purchase. While free is usually good, it may not be in this case because a budding entrepreneur may never know if the consultant was influenced to recommend a certain franchisor because of the finder’s fee and not necessarily because of the quality of the franchise opportunity.

Like most professions, there are hardworking, ethic people who do great franchise consulting and there are people who will sell their opinion to the highest bidder with no investment in the ultimate success of their clients. Any entrepreneur who decides to go with a consultant needs to make sure the professional has a solid reputation with plenty of references from other entrepreneurs and does not have business relationships with any of the franchises being recommended.
